Country statistics — DataMarket
Lots of nice statistics, presented in a decent, usable way. So many of the international organisation sites with this stuff are appalling. (via @johndodds)

@genmon Were you using Dreamweaver?
@ultrazool I *wish* it was Austin. Houston’s suburbs were less fun.
@mrstth Ooh, fun! I SAID, FUN!! CAN YOU HEAR ME? STOP FOR A MOMENT… oh never mind.
@johndodds I’m (stupidly) the kind of person who spends a day swearing at the internet rather than making one phone call.
Also, via @johndodds: data.un.org/Data.aspx?d=WD… and datamarket.com/data/set/12o6/… Thanks!
@johndodds Ooh, both good, thanks! I think I’m going to be doing some data munging whatever source I use.
@ultrazool I’m not convinced about my own definition to be honest.
Re previous request @danjwilson suggested research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/search?s… Has (copyright) OECD data (that I can’t find on the OECD site itself).
@danjwilson Good work! Looks like that might be it. The deflator data leads to a bit of OECD I hadn’t come across. Ta!
@johndodds I have, thanks - almost but not quite, from what I can tell.
@johndodds Ta, yes I was hoping for more countries, and also not to have to find all the datasets individually. Plus a unicorn.
@Andrew_S_Hatton It was in there somewhere :)
@Andrew_S_Hatton Gross Domestic Product.
This is me having fun. What’s wrong with me?
Long shot: Anyone know where to get GDP deflator data for many countries from 1955ish to now?
WAKE UP!
@antimega This is a couple of years old but a quick glance suggests it’s still useful: jtaby.com/blog/2012/04/2…
@0898CHEATHCO @jamesweiner How come I’d never seen that before?! Ta!
@holgate @awbalfour @chrislunch The company name on this job ad seemed a good clue: twitter.com/awbalfour/stat…

I suppose it's typical of the generation of startups it represents that Hacker News lacks an API
