    @rhodri After spending three weeks in Normandy learning French, on the final day I went to spend my remaining centimes (yes, old) in a local bakery.

    “Je voudrais deux croissants!”

    They could not understand me at all, despite my repeated attempts. I ended up pointing.

    @philgyford @rhodri I quite liked the girl behind the counter at a Courchevel bakery so I ordered a fougasse by saying "je suis une fougasse".
