@picklesvat Who knows. But I've been away a while - for all I know there is an ice cream shop on every street now? Maybe everyone has an ice cream shop named after them?

@bobbie Yeah. Kind of like once-successful, safe, and popular cities that cut back on services, rested on their laurels, and coasted on previous good will for too long... one day realising how much effort it takes to claw back from the depths.

Odd: Why is London [on Google Maps] suddenly full of fake ice cream shops? ask.metafilter.com/362027/Why-is-… Search for “ice cream shop” in Maps. I had to scroll through quite a few results but there’s a load of these. Any ideas?
