I was wondering recently what happened to the plans to remodel Old Street roundabout. This new London “Walking Action Plan” press release mentions that work’s going to start next year london.gov.uk/press-releases…

@GreatDismal The Guardian too, e.g. theguardian.com/us-news/2018/j… Interesting how they so often get in a rut of using charged phrases. The Guardian frequently uses “hard-working families” which is such politician sloganeering.

@asymmetricinfo @TheRickWilson I hole-hardedly agree, but allow me to play doubles advocate here for a moment. For all intensive purposes I think you are wrong. In an age where false morals are a diamond dozen, true virtues are a blessing in the skies.
It's fun to appease the "road tax for cyclists" mob by proposing a fairer tax based on the road wear caused by each user. Perhaps an 80kg cyclist could start at £10 per year?
Of course with wear proportional to 4th power of axle weight, a Ford Focus would be £1.7m but fair's fair
