The Fermi Paradox - Wait But Why
Really good stuff explaining the many possible theories for why we haven’t heard from any alien races given the (potentially) very large number of intelligent civilisations in the galaxy. (via Kottke)

The coolest culture hack of all is not hacking your culture » Boyes Club
Good. “If you tell me you want to ‘hack’ your culture, what I hear is, ‘I don’t know how to make the people working for me simultaneously more engaged and more productive, so I’m going to attempt to manipulate them in ways based entirely on my own misunderstanding of human behaviour and hope that gives me the results I’m looking for’.” (via @tomstuart)

@tomcoates The early ones seem much more distinctive, but as I said… no idea.
I can't work out if Arcade Fire's early songs are *much* better than the rest, or if that's because they're the only ones I know.
MT “@numbdave: @mrchrisaddison [Arcade Fire are] like … in a stage musical when all the townspeople come out of the painted shops and sing”
@holgate @antimega Yeah. You could get a couple of these new two bedroom flats by the Barbican: zoopla.co.uk/new-homes/deta… Crazy.
@jwheare As stupid as it seems to say, I was wondering why it's so "cheap". I wouldn't fancy paying the upkeep mind.

@jaggeree It's perfect! I've really been missing a six-room potting shed here.
@freyfogle I don't know what I was thinking!!
@jaggeree Something for everyone!

@chrislunch I'm now trying to think what similar unlikely pairings would be just as good…

Please! I can imagine making those alarming faces if you were, like, 1970s Funkadelic say, but you sound like off-day Au Pairs or s/t. #Haim
@russelldavies Good idea. I'll have our ward's Undermage draw up a petition for attention at next full moon's Commoners' Folkmoot.
@russelldavies Actually, maybe the City of London police would oblige. They're all young these days.
@russelldavies Now I'm watching it I can't work out how to get the red button menu to come up again. Do you know any youngsters?
The good thing about catching a bit of Haim earlier, on stage and in interview, is that now I know I never need to see or hear them again.
I'm out of touch, so I'm just assuming Crystal Fighters are some kind of Mighty Boosh spin-off, which is fine.
Re earlier re cookie warnings… of all the data security issues users should be warned about, it doesn't seem high up the list. *cough* GCHQ
I'm liking Rodrigo y Gabriela on the red button. #bbcglasto
@peterme I *think* whoever made the law then said that maybe it's not entirely compulsory after all, once everyone had implemented it.
Very, very, very, very tired of dismissing "This website uses cookies…" banners. Come on people.
My IMDb STARmeter rank has dropped 4,202,143 this week. That’s a long tail.
@GawRagbag Ohhhh, now it makes sense bro!
@rod @tomcoates Jesus, steady Rod! We’re not Continental!
@tomcoates @rod Thanks Mate, you too!
@rod You never need to ask for a hug, Buddy.
The staff at Ozone called me “bro”, “buddy” and “mate”. I didn’t even realise I knew them! I gave them hugs, asked after their parents, etc.
“The darkness of night surrounds you. You can hear the crickets chirping and see fireflies in the air. icesin is standing here.” Fun times.
Someone just rescued BayMOO from its failed disks and got it up and running. A disappeared world miraculously reappearing.
