Jonathan Meades: “To look down onto the Walton backwaters is equally to look down on the Walton backlands. Such a sense of impermanence and of susceptibility to powers beyond our control is rare in these islands.” (via @antimega)

@jameslgain Glad you like it!
@blech Of course.
@blech @designswarm Varies, depends on type of thing: Google+ and Bing were obviously big deals immediately.
@SKarab Yup, got that and Instagram (also 2010) now, thanks.
@holgate Yup, 2010.
@chrislunch I remember that! Crazy days…
@megpickard Ta! I don’t think I’d even heard of fab.com. I’m either forgetful or out of touch.
2010: Instagram and Pinterest. 2011: Google+. 2012: Nothing yet. (I’ve updated en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_… )
@willsh @DeanVipond Yeah, all the interesting small things disappear, rather than grow.
@DeanVipond @willsh Oh yes! I had a note of that somewhere and forgot all about it. I’m sure that’s a metaphor or something.
@willsh @DeanVipond Yes, good one thanks, also 2010. Still two years to fill…
@designswarm Yes, good, thanks!
@DeanVipond Ooh, yes, good one, thanks!
What big internet things launched in 2010, 2011 and 2012? Of the YouTube, Facebook, Spotify kind of scale? My mind’s gone blank.
.@samuelpepys: “Scott was so drunk that he could not be seen.” It’s been a long, long time since I was drunk to the point of invisibility.
@benhammersley That would require being unequivocally for or against something, which seems an unpopular position, no matter the topic.
@antimega I’m so looking forward to that. So pleased he mentions Walton’s backwaters.
@chthonicionic It is useless for that purpose.
