    @kentparkstreet @jcd1974 @samuelpepys wrote in shorthand, not a cypher. The occasional more risqué passages were in an odd mixture of French, Spanish and Italian.

    The comments on that article are, inevitably, terrible. It baffles me why the Guardian still has comments. What’s the benefit to them?
