  1. philgyford’s Open Source Report Card

    Analyses your GitHub activity and tries to determine things about how you work and what you do. Not perfect — if I really am “one of the top 20% most active Python users” I’m concerned for Python — but interesting and nicely done. (via @pkqk)

    A version of ‘Game of Thrones’ in which the dreadful winter they all fear is a few months of grey skies, damp air, and feeling a bit chilly.

    @rex3000 @russelldavies Get well soon.

    @tomstuart Isn’t it! Sometimes I fear I don’t understand it fully, but I think I’m getting there.

    @philgyford @tomstuart But it does require two tiny eyes, in order to judge the 3D-ness of the fingerprint. More secure than one tiny eye.

    @philgyford @tomstuart Obviously, they’re miniaturised eyes! It’d never work with full-size ones squeezed inside a phone!

    @revdancatt Oh… maybe I’ve just been standing a bit far away from them.

    @revdancatt Yes, contrary to popular belief, if you look closely, most designers actually have normal size heads. (That was it wasn’t it?)

    @plsj I was wondering just last night how many hours I’ve spent writing code over the last 30 years. I still only feel adequate at it.

    @plsj Yeah, people love simple ideas that suggest “anything is possible”.

    Dreamed that the most popular game for a Nintendo 64 emulator was called ‘Visit A Bank’. They say if you work hard, dreams can come true…

    @plsj I wonder how many hours of reflection about what you do make up for more hours of blindly doing it.

    @plsj That 10K hours thing does annoy me. Must be so many designers (or whatever) who have spent 10K on their discipline and are rubbish.
