Doonesbury via RSS
I love ‘Doonesbury‘ but I rarely buy a paper or visit the website. So I’ve whipped up an RSS file that will link to the past week’s strips. Feel free to use it.
If the site doesn’t have a strip for a particular day then you’ll get broken links — the file doesn’t do anything clever like check the strips are available, but simply creates a new link each day. It would be possible to include <img…> tags displaying the strips themselves in news readers, but mass-grabbing the images seems a bit unfair on Doonesbury.com.
UPDATE: I forgot to update this when, some time ago, I came across an alternative RSS feed. This one includes the strips themselves, rather than just links to them. (6 August 2007)
UPDATE 2: That feed seems to have recently stopped including the strips. Even worse, it shows pop-up ads when you click through to read the strips. Right now, this RSS feed still includes the daily strips. (8 Dec 2010)
UPDATE 3: This feed is no longer working, sorry. (8 Jan 2018)
UPDATE 4: I’ve now set it so requests for my original Doonesbury RSS feed are redirected to the equivalent Doonesbury RSS feed at Comics RSS.

FWIW, I've also come up with a bookmarklet that links directly to the latest strip; it's available on taint.org/2004/07/21/0… .
Yay! It even still works, nearly two years later. Ta, Phil!
The rss file isn't working....
try this

Good Luck
My RSS file is working Mahsing.
Phil,
Can you please update your RSS file to show the doonesbury comic strips instead of showing the links only? You can refer to the link i posted....:)
No I can't -- someone else used to do an RSS file that included the images but that was shut down by the copyright holders. Newsiness has presumably paid for the rights to use the images, and you or anyone else is perfectly free to use their feed rather than mine (which I created because there were no alternatives at the time).
In order to view the view the comic in your RSS you have to edit your settings to allow the feed to download the whole page instead of just the link. Hope that helps.
August 2007 - I just found this and it works great! Thanks.
